Amanda Black is an award-winning South African vocalist and songwriter known for her powerful voice and emotionally driven blend of Afro-soul, R&B and contemporary African music. Born Amanda Benedicta Antony in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, she developed a passion for music at an early age and later studied Music Education at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. She rose to national prominence in 2016 following the release of her breakthrough single Amazulu, which led to a critically acclaimed debut album that won several major South African music awards, including Album of the Year and Best Female Artist.
