Formed in 2011, The Amy-Lu Crew are a fresh, female fronted Bluesy/Rock n Roll band from Cape Town, with a funky, upbeat and soulful vibe.Singer/Songwriter Amy-Lu Dickinson connects and inspires audiences with her honest story telling,whilst captivating them with her charisma and sultry moving and hip shaking on stage.
Her soulful voice is well complimented by her brother, Christopher James Dickinson’s beautifully attuned backing vocals and funky rhythm guitar.Vincent Connel’s vibrant Blues harmonica, adds an old school authenticity to the bands dynamic sound.Daniel Fernandes entertains with his swanky lead guitar licks, and groovy bass lines are effortlessly expressed by Alexsei du Bois, while Nick Bush, on percussion, provides the rock n roll rhythms.
In their short time together, The Amy-Lu Crew have started making major waves in the Cape Town music scene, already performing at gigs for Rolling Stone Magazine, South Africa, and sharing the stage with local greats The Jack Mantis band, Trenton and Free Radical, Jeremy Loops and Canadian born Natasha Meister.
Since breaking onto the live scene, Amy-Lu has been continuously writing material, and recently released their first studio Ep, ‘The Old Fashioned Love Songs EP” Singles can already be heard on 98.4fm Radio Overberg and Boom Fm, and various other social media, as well as their videos racking up hits all over you tube.
Fronted by a powerfully credible voice, with something real to say, The Amy-Lu Crew are a group of open minded and open hearted young musicians.
Their passion for creating genuine and soulful music is inspired by Rock n Roll and Blues legends that have gone before, like Janis Joplin, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin and Amy Winehouse. Taking inspiration from artists today like The Black Keys, Eliza Dolittle and Adele, to create a timeless, eclectic musical experience.
