Prince Kaybee

Based: Bloemfontein

Prince Kaybee whose real is Kabelo Motsamai was born in Senekal near Welkom in the Free State in South Africa. He is a South African DJ and musician.

His father had 36 children and he was the youngest child and the only child from his mother’s child. He became rebellious at a young age and dropped out of school in grade 11.

After leaving school he impregnated a girl and the reality of life kicked in. He moved out of his home and went to live with his friend but he later found himself living on the streets in Bloemfontein with no shelter and no food.

He moved from club to club looking for a job until he found residency at Nigerian owned club as a DJ. He made enough money to buy food but not pay rent. He met a girl at the club who took him in.

He bought a laptop to practise DJing and producing. He entered a DJ competition on SABC1. In 2013 his booking agent took him to the church and he got saved.

DJ and Producer Prince Kaybee, who tweeted that Cassper Nyovest and Davido’s new song Check on You had exactly the same chord progression as his hit-song Charlotte.

Fellow DJ and producer Shimza, accused Prince Kaybee of theft of his hit Club Controller by getting a collaboration with LaSoulmates, TNS and Zanda for the song. Apparently, Shimza got the song first but before he knew it, Prince Kaybee had tagged his name on it and when he asked him about it he played dumb.

Prince Kaybee on the other insists he “started working on Club Controller way back in June with LaSoulmates and TNS” however “the song leaked with a wrong title” and he has been trying to correct that mistake ever since.
