Nonala Tose

Nonala Tose affectionately known as Nala is a multi-award winning broadcaster and entrepreneur. She has been inducted in the Bright Star Club as the Bright Star Young Achiever Award winner at the 2013 MTN Radio Awards. She is a fresh and dynamic radio broadcaster with over five years of experience in radio presenting, production and copywriting. Born and raised in the Eastern Cape, Nala is recognised for her ‘face for radio’ and abundant flow of creativity. Her captivating name ‘Nonala’ is derived from her family clan name ‘Nala’ which means blessings in abundance.

As an alumnus of the University of Cape Town (UCT), she is passionate about education and development; she has achieved a Bachelors of Social Sciences degree in Psychology and Organisational Psychology.  Her leadership experience stems from her seat in Queenstown Junior Mayoral Council in 2004/2005 and the Student Representative Council (SRC) Entertainment and Fundraising Co-ordinator at UCT.

Nala is currently on Umhlobo Wenene FM’s award winning ‘Best Midday Show of 2013’ called SjikiLanga (SJL 123) which broadcasts weekdays from 13:00 – 15:00. in the afternoon. This show has a broad audience of over one million nationwide listeners which interact daily on -air.
She is a radio enthusiast and this is heard all over Southern Africa (Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Swaziland) at all the Clicks Group stores, pharmacies and clinics, as the radio presenter on Clicks Live Radio; the in-store radio station for the Clicks Group. On Clicks radio Nala entertains both the staff stores and the millions of customers daily.

At YFM in 2009/2010 she graduated as a Y-Academic on the six month broadcasting internship (Y Academy). She continued as an online features writer/intern at Marie Claire Magazine. Nala then dedicated several months in pro bono community radio broadcasting at Mix FM the Midrand community radio station. She dabbled in sports broadcasting as a co-ordinator for the CHAN 2010 tournament’s radio show, Headsup Africa which was pre-packaged and aired in 6 participating countries in Arica. As a producer for the Kaya FM Top 40, a copywriter and trainee presenter; Nala continued to develop her broadcasting finesse on commercial radio. In 2011 and 2012 Nala was the official voice and copywriter for the Kaya FM summer campaign (Ke Summer Boss, Re Ja Joy).

For two consecutive years Nala has been specially selected as the Programmes Director for the main stage at the 14th and 15th Cape Town International Jazz Festival; where the whole world comes together for one of the largest Jazz Festivals. She is a dynamic Emcee and does stage work for corporate, government, youth and children events. She is heard on various radio stations as a voice over artist and script or copywriter and a translator. She does voice work in three languages: English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa.

As the managing director of Nonala Tose Productions (NTP), Nala champions childhood development, brand and image consulting and styling/fashion. NTP was founded in 2013 and hosted the major brand and childhood development project in the Nyanga area of Cape Town. This Mandela Day event is a continuation of Nala’s involvement in the Nelson Mandela Youth Colloquium in 2013, where she was selected as a mediator and later that day as the master of ceremony amongst 60 International Ambassadors, two ministers and school children.
Nonala works a lot with children under her Visualise Plan Achieve project, where she inspires children to dream big and follow their dreams. There are greater things to come in childhood development as this has become the initial focus for Nonala Tose Productions.
