Me & Mr Brown

Based:  Cape Town

As tends to be the way in music, fate played a massive part in the formation of Me and Mr Brown. In the South African winter of 2008, it was suggested that Tony Browne join Daniel Green to form a double act playing on the local Cape Peninsula gig circuit. Without any rehearsals, a seemingly instant musical chemistry formed with Tony’s musical prowess dovetailing perfectly with Daniel’s natural talent for “getting the songs across” and entertaining the crowd.

Me and Mr Brown have, over the past six years, cemented their reputation as South Africa’s best live party covers band. As well as playing at well over forty weddings per season, the boys can be found playing gigs ranging from birthdays and house parties to rugby festivals as well as corporate functions where companies such as Investec, Old Mutual, Alan Grey and Adidas have all been entertained. The band travel all over South Africa to perform and have even been booked for gigs in Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique and even London in the last six months alone.

Daniel Green
Hailing from West London, Daniel took the plunge and moved down to South Africa in April 2007 and loved it so much that he decided to stay! Having been trained on the drums since the age of seven, Daniel joined forces with his younger brother Jon to form a band which took them on a great musical journey that, although ending ultimately without the sucess that they both craved, lead to an extensive CV which included live performances at all of London’s top gig venues (The Palladium, Subterrenea, Barfly, Dingwalls and the Borderline Club to name but a few) and a whole host of recording experiences in some of the country’s finest studios including Abbey road and Air Studios. In 2002, the boys decided to call it quits with Daniel opting for a career in the “real world” and Jon opting to continue with his music, ultimately earning himself a reputation as one of the UK’s top session musicians and song writers. Daniel began strumming his guitar for fun once settled in South Africa, commencing a journey which now sees him as one half of south Africa’s best Live party covers band. Daniel is a passionate Arsenal fan, a lover of fine wine and food and lives in Noordhoek with his wife Lindi and their two children Charlie and Daisy.

Tony Browne
Tony has been playing his guitar for as long as he cares to remember. A born and bred Capetonian, Tony’s passion for music is unsurpassable. As well as being a trained musician, Tony also studied to be a sound engineer and thus has a passion for the technical aspects of music as well as the sheer love of performing. Since leaving college, Tony has been a regular on the Cape Town music scene playing in sucessful covers acts as ‘Under Construction’, ‘Wasted Youth’, ‘Barcode’ and the eponymous ‘Tony Browne’. Tony is passionate about cars and motorbikes, loves movies and is a highly skilled mechanic, electrician and plumber amongst other things! He lives in Lakeside with his wife Chantal and daughter Cameron.
