Loyiso Bala is a winner of multiple awards ranging from 5 SAMA’s (South African Music Awards), most recently Best R&B and Best Producer at the SAMA awards 2008 as well as presenter of SAMA’s 2009 and nominated at the MTV awards alongside Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Akon in 2008 MTV Base awards. Loyiso is well known for his style accolades including “You” Magazine and GQ’s most stylish and sexiest man in the country. L.B personifies the best, most liked and well known multi -faceted R&B artist on the African continent.
After overwhelming success with legendary Kwaito act TKZee in 2000, Loyiso decided to release his own singles “Musukukhala” and “Silky Soft Skin” in 2001. The singles laid the foundation for Loyiso’s solo career and he went on to released his first album “Wine Woman and Song” in 2003, and his second album “Amplified” in 2005. These albums solidified Loyiso’s reputation as South Africa’s king of R&B, with singles such as Girl Without A Name, Angel, Gimme The Night, Cappuccino, Jeeps and Cuban. Both albums went Platinum in South Africa.
Loyiso’s ability as a live performer has been seen by fans in over 16 countries, and at the end of 2002, Loyiso embarked on a world tour that saw him stopping off in London, America, Asia and the Middle East. Other highlight performances include several Miss South Africa Awards and Miss World appearances. Loyiso has performed alongside artist of the highest caliber including Corinne Bailey Rae, John Legend, Brian Mcknight, Elton John, Will Smith, Akon, Jamelia and for the highest dignitaries, such as Nelson Mandela, Richard Branson, Gordon Brown, Bill Clinton, Oprah Whinfrey and more.
Where does this talent come from? It has been trained since he was a teenager attending the prestigious Drakensburg Boys Choir in South Africa. Loyiso finished top of his class and nurtured his classical voice and piano skills, being the youngest conductor of the national youth choir in 2000. He now uses these skills to master his unique contemporary vocals.
The singles from his current album (Blow You Mind) ‘I want you’, ‘Blow Your Mind’, ‘Take Me Back’, ‘Dali Wami’ and ‘Maybe’ were simultaneously all on the top 100 radio charts in South Africa at the same time in late 2008, a feat that rarely happens. Loyiso is now taking his new & most loved material to his fans and performs on average 4 times a week. Loyiso explains that “Live performances are where I am able to bring everything I love about music together on one great platform”. This music has been bought to live visually with videos for 3 of the new singles.
