Every so often there emerges a new artist who seeks to permanently install himself in the music industry, and make a lasting impression. Donald is such an artist, and brings with him refreshing musicality, a clean image and abundant talent.
Since the start of 2011 Donald started a journey, the recording of his 2nd and most anticipated album. The most special thing about this album is that its one with a difference for him because he has decided to explore into the DANCE (House) genre. This decision has been inspired by a few things, 1 is definitely his stay at WILL OF STEEL PRODUCTIONS where he learned a lot from working with Maestro Producer DJ CLEO on both Eskhaleni 5 and Eskhaleni 8 and the other reason is obviously and evidently the fact that the Dance (House) Genre has grown so much and is one of the most celebrated genre in the country.
The album “Train Of Love” currently in stores, has taken the country by storm, with the 1st single Ï DESERVE” reaching No.1 on RAMs Top 100 & Top 40 Charts, also being in the Top 10 on the Media Guide charts. It’s safe to say that this sudden success that “I Deserve” has achieved is probably from the fact that it was inspired by a true story from a very difficult and painful chapter in DONALD’s life (love life to be exact) and the video of the song has been shot and it depicts what actually happened.
The video TV debuted on the 3rd of FEB and the response has exceeded everyone’s expectations and its already topping charts in some TV channels. It features Thato Molamu (Nicholas on Generations). This album tells a story and “I DESERVE” is the first piece of the puzzle and the rest will be revealed as the singles get released and every video will carry the story further. Following the video release there’s been highlights but 1 that stands out is when DONALD was invited to perform on Noeleen’s 3talk on Valentines’ Day.
We regard Donald as an experienced debutant, a seasoned campaigner who
cut his teeth with several established South African artists such as Selaelo Selota, where it began for the youngster. He moved on to tour with Malaika, standing in for any of the two front men whenever they were unavailable, did a successful stint with Kwela Tebza before reaching the penultimate stop in his journey, singing backing vocals for Zonke.
Donald was singing at one of Zonke’s live performances with DJ Cleo in attendance, who later invited him to contribute to his song ‘Angel of Love’, which was released on the platinum album Eskhaleni Unit 5.
JUST DONALD was his 1st album, this collective effort culminated in an album that is soulful, jazzy, and highly listenable. ‘Know You Better’ was the song that got so much positive response out of that album and went on to become 1 of the most played South African love songs on National radio, Under the musical direction of DJ Cleo (who plays bass) and with the contribution of no less than 15 musicians, among whom much acclaimed instrumentalists such as Bheki Khoza, Steve Dyer, and Tlale Makhene to mention a few and of course wit the help of one South African Song Birds Winnie Khumalo on vocals Just Donald was recorded live
