Roy Hendrix ( aka Rolls Roy, Roy the Boy ) began his DJ career at the age of 13 years old when he starting messing around with his oldest brothers turntables and mixer. Genres of music he was taught at the time was House Music mixed with R&B, Hip Hop and Jazz.
At the age of 20 he got his first residency in a little venue off Loop Street called the George Pub. From 1997 till 1999 he frequented a lot of clubs in the Loop / Long Street Area. In this time he learnt other genres like Pop, Rock etc……
In 1999 he then landed a job at Ratanga Junction playing in the Main arena every Saturday for their under 18 parties catering for 3000 to 4000 kids. In that time he also ran the in-house radio station at the entertainment park.
In 2000 he then started a residency at a club in Long Street called 96 degrees where he got introduced to Electronic Music Genre Trance,Hard Dance and Progressive House. 96 degrees moved to Harrington Street to bigger premises where he ran his own floor playing deep progressive electronic music.
Still keeping within his House Roots he then became resident of another club in Long Street called Baseline where he held a residency on a Thursday night. His residencies with these clubs lasted until 2003.
In 2004 he decided to spread his wings into the suburbs of the Cape Peninsula. He held residencies at Vacca Matta(Cape Town and Tygervalley) and Billy the Bums(Newlands).
In 2005 he then started his residency with the Cubana Group. He travelled around South Africa opening Cubana Stores nationwide.
