Daniel Peter Jenkins (born in Harare,Zimbabwe on 30th September 1992) is a musician and singer-songwriter.
Educated at St John’s College in Harare, Daniel graduated in 2010 and then obtained a Diploma in Hotel Management from the International Hotel School in Cape Town.
Daniel developed a passion for music in his early teens & sang and played guitar in Church bands and College performances.
At the age of 16 Daniel performed on Sunday’s at Kuimbashiri Bird Park at Lake Chivero near Harare. He performed solo sets and joined the band “Cornerstone” for the final set of the day. The exposure inspired Daniel to start writing and composing. His first song “True,” produced by Simba Moyo was released in August 2013. Greg Amira went on to shoot Daniel’s first music video in Cape Town where the song and video tells the story of a young lady who stole Daniel’s heart.
Daniel continued writing and released his second song “Away” in February 2014, which was written under very tragic circumstances following the suicide of a fellow musician and very close friend.
Upon graduating from his Hotel Management course, Daniel wasn’t quite sure of what he wanted to pursue. He started playing gigs at a few restaurants in
February 2013 becoming more and more popular on the local scene. Daniel was fortunate enough to obtain a position on the Electric Vines NYE lineup based in
Cape Town over 2014/2015 where he was flown from Zimbabwe and had the opportunity to play alongside South Africa’s biggest artists – Jeremy Loops, Prime
Circle, Matthew Mole, Goodluck, Gangs of Ballet, Just Jinjer, Jesse Clegg, Monark, Pascal and Pearce, Matt Blitz, Dean Fuel & Catherine Grenfell. Releasing his
single “Never Too Late” in February 2015, videographer Gwinyai Runyowa put a music video together over a two and a half month period. The single obtained
over 30 000 views on YouTube in a few months, further motivating him to write and release more songs. He was lucky enough to be selected as one of a few
artists from around the world to earn a spot playing on the island of Ios in Greece for a two-month contract from June 2015. Daniel has since released his latest
music video “City Streets” which was directed by Ola Kassen from Norway.
